The Dreaded Haircut!

I have always love my baby girls beautiful long brown hair!  She was born with enough hair to have immediately put a bow in it and this morning at the age of 4 it was almost to her booty!  That's where her brother steps in......oh yes, they played beauty shop this morning and he cut a chunk out of her hair!  The side to be exact, which I guess is much better than the front or up to the scalp!

So, we had a trip to the salon and had to make it all even.  I will say it is precious on her but I will also say I felt like crying seeing all that hair hit the floor.  I know....it's only hair.....it will grow back!  I still felt sad.  She's only had two haircuts in her little life and her daddy and I loved her long hair.  She has always been known for her great hair!  Now she will be known for her sassy little bob!

This is her and her personal hair dresser waiting for "the fix"!

She was so scared of the shampoo bowl!  She screamed at first!

Believe it or not it is kinky curly underneath so the lady had to round brush it!

She said eventually Emily will have curly hair!  I am shocked.....her dad and I both have stick straight hair!

She looked so grown sitting there in the cape and having it dried!

Where is my baby?

She is my precious baby girl even with a grown up bob!!!

She has so much hair it looked like a wig from the back!!!!

Here is the after!!!  Pretty Cute!!!!

Conviction and Today's TV...

Lately I have found myself feeling convicted over things I used to not think twice about.  I have been told I am growing in my faith and that is why.  I hope that is true!  :)

I have always loved shows like The Bachelor, Real Housewives, award shows like the Grammy's, many other reality shows, Lifetime movies and have watched many rated R movies in my life.  It's gotten really hard to do it lately!

(Please know I am not judging anyone that does like those shows!  I had the same heart and beliefs when I did watch them as I do now so I am not judging, saying you are bad or not a Christian if you do!)

I looked up the word convicted and there were about four definitions but this one is what describes how I feel.....

Convicted- 3. To make aware of one's sinfulness or guilt

I think about my children and what I want their little heads filled with and it's not the stuff I see on TV now days or even what a lot of "famous" singers and stars are standing for!  So over time I would start watching a show like some mentioned above and immediately start feeling guilty for putting it in my head!  So, I eventually stopped all together.  It wasn't easy as I LOVED the show Scandal and I had to just stop cold turkey!  But now what I don't know doesn't hurt me or fill my mind with bothersome stuff.

John 16:8 (NEB) "When he [the Holy Spirit] comes, he will convict the world, and show where right and wrong and judgment lie. He will convict them of wrong..."

The first work of the Holy Spirit is the conviction of sin. If we are temples of the Spirit, His presence, His name in us will convict us, and others, of sin. We will feel more affinity towards those who, like us, long for more conviction, repentance, and the power of God to live a life that will stand the test of fire.

I have also discovered Netflix "faith and spirituality" movies.  They are not the best actors in the world but they always have the best message and I finish the movie feeling good and not guilty or what I just watched or put into my mind!
I love the Hallmark Channel.....so much so that my hubby and boys laugh at me.  Their movies are always clean, wholesome and have a good message.
I strongly believe that if you have to worry about your kids walking into the room when the TV is on then you don't need to be watching it!

I have a friend who once said that after watching a Grammy performance he needed to bleach his eyes!  Do we really want our son's or daughter's watching something that a MAN felt like he needed to bleach his eyes afterwards? I don't!

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, in order to prove by you what is that good and pleasing and perfect will of God.
Have a great evening and stay warm!  Houston is shutting down for the next two days!!!  :)

Five on Friday.......

Here are some of my favorites this week......

1.  My time with my girlfriends and date nights with our best friends!  I know this is going to be short as January is almost over and we will be gone by June!
I am going to miss so many sweet people that the Lord has brought into our lives over the last 5 or so years.
So for the next few months one of my favorite things is going to be spending time with my friends!!!!

2.  BETH MOORE!  My friends and I are doing her Tuesday night Bible Study in Houston!  We leave at 4:30 and eat dinner and then dig into the word with Beth!  She is amazing!!!!!!  I love her and could listen to her all day.....not to mention she has the best clothes and hair ever!!!!!

3.  NARS eye paint!!!!  I love this stuff!  A few months ago I had my eyeliner tattooed on and it has started to fade a lot and I it hurt to bad to have it darkened so this is the next best stuff!  Plus if you don't take it off with soap it stays for days!!!!  :)
The little brush makes it so easy and puts it on so perfect!!!!!

4.  Dr. Gary Chapman and his book the Five Love Languages!

Dr. Chapman came to our church this past weekend and Marc and I got to go hear him on Saturday night and it was great to be reminded that we need to speak our spouses and our children's love languages.
Here are ours......
Me- QUALITY TIME for sure!  And second....words of affirmation.
Marc- WORDS OF AFFIRMATION and I think second my be acts of service.

We also quizzed the three older boys about theirs and I had Noah and Jesse pegged but was totally wrong on Taylor's but it was a pleasant surprise!!!

Noah- Quality time!
Jesse- Quality time!

Taylor was Words of Affirmation and Physical Touch!  He said he likes when I hug him and tell him that I am proud of him!!  I could have sworn it was gifts!!!  LOL!

Here is the quiz to find out what your language is.......

5.  Farmhouses!  I am all about farmhouses lately!!!!  I hope that we can either find one in our around Corpus or build one that looks old on a huge piece of property!  I want a porch and a really simple house and a CHICKEN COOP!

Ten Prayers to Pray for your Son........

I just read these prayers this morning on Pinterest and thought I would repost them here so I can come back to it and read EVERYDAY!  I am serious.....I am going to pray these things each day for my son that is about to be heading out into the real world!  Thank you Lysa TerKeurst for sharing on your blog.........
10 Powerful Prayers to Help You Fight for the Heart of Your Son
1. Create in my son a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him (Psalm 51:10).
2. May my son walk after You, God, and fear You and keep Your commandments and obey Your voice. May he serve You and hold fast to You (Deuteronomy 13:4).
3. May my son be strong and courageous and not fear or be in dread, for it is You, Lord, our God, who goes with him. You will never leave him or forsake him (Deuteronomy 31:6).
4. May my son walk before You, God, as King David walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that You have commanded him and keeping Your statutes and rules (1 Kings 9:4).
5. Like Timothy, may my son be an example to believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity (1 Timothy 4:12).
6. May my son listen to the way of wisdom and be led in the paths of uprightness (Proverbs
4:11).
7. Lord, be with my son in trouble; rescue him and honor him (Psalm 91:5).
8. May my son honor his father and mother… (Ephesians 6:2).
9. May my son have love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith (1 Timothy 1:5).
10. May my son think on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is commendable; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, may he think about these things (Philippians 4:8).
I am so excited to see God work in this boy's life!

Saying Goodbye!

After 40 years of living in the Highlands/Baytown area my family and I will be moving away this summer and saying good-bye to Baytown....the only hometown we have ever known!   We have prayed about this for about three years and finally feel God's peace over our decision.

Hubby told all of his employees today that he will be leaving them at the end of the month!  I can't imagine how he felt telling them.  He has some amazing people that have worked for him for a long time.  I know some are like family to him and he will miss each one of them very much!

We will be moving to Corpus Christi or the surrounding area.  We are hoping to move to the country somewhere along the outskirts of Corpus.  Marc will be partnering with my uncle who has had an industrial equipment company since 1955 and is very excited and thankful for the opportunity!  I am so proud of him and so thankful that he is the hard worker that he is.  I know he will be a huge asset to this company!

Our house will go on the market in March and we hope to be in a new one by June or at least by the time school starts.  I know God will lead us to our perfect house for us!

I cry very easily lately when I am around my friends here.  I have made some really good friends and I will miss them all very much!  I am very sad and very excited all at the same time!  I will NOT say good-bye to any of you guys......just see you again soon!!!  I will come back often for sure!

Taylor will be leaving to College Station for school next year and it will be strange for him not to go with us so I am praying that God will ease this Momma's heart and help me to let go.  I know that the Lord has huge plans for my boy and all I can do is pray His will and His protection over him every day!  I will miss him terribly day to day but I know that it's all part of life and growing up.  (I cry thinking about it now!)

My boys are a little sad and I am sure a little scared but I know that they are loved by everyone they meet and eventually will be fine.  Noah is the one I worry about the most but every one that meets him loves him.  He makes friends so easy and is kind to everyone he meets!

Well that's about all for now......stay tuned for updates as we house hunt and research schools and look for a new church home and eventually pack this house!  We have WAY TO MUCH STUFF so maybe it's time to simplify!

Pray for us to adjust and to be happy!
