Emily's Nursery.....

I am linking up with Lyndsie for Friday Favorite's and here theme is nurseries and we all know how I love to decorate!
When I found out I was having a girl I couldn't wait to do her nursery and I think it turned out so precious....ENJOY!!!

She dumped water everywhere and was playing in it.....but I had to snap this picture as I think she is the cutest little girl in the world!

This is Emily's bedding and crib....it is STILL in our room but when we get back from our trip she is going to be moved into her own room!

I have always loved that sign and when I found out I was having a girl I knew I had to have it for her room!
Those are all her pink bows hanging on the ribbon...when I put the other colors it just didn't look good! (I'm wierd...I know!)

I bought this chandelier at Lowes for about $40...it was the ugliest thing you have ever seen and I spray painted it and added the trim to the shades. I love how it turned out!

I got the Emily wall hanging at TJ Maxx....I was surprised they had her name and it matched her room perfectly!

My step sister gave Emily the little vanity....it is precious and she loves to sit and look at herself in the mirror!

Busy Weekend.....see ya soon!!

I will be taking a break from blogging for a while but will be back next Friday! This is only Thursday night and I am exhausted already. Tomorrow night my son, who is a freshman is going to his school's spring Spectacular. It is the Senior prom but since its a small private school there aren't many seniors so they let the whole high school go. It's in Galveston at a nice hotel! His date is a doll and I know he will look so handsome. I will post pictures as soon as I can!

Saturday morning I will be getting up very early and heading to Giddings, Tx to our church ladies retreat. This is my first time to get to go since we came to Second and I am so excited! I am not getting to spend the whole weekend but I am getting to be in the amazing race with my girls from my small group. Our team is called "Victori-ous Secret". See the "VICTORI"!!!! More on that later.....

THEN...I get up at the crack of dawn and head to the airport and my final destination that day will be visiting this little guy and joining my hubby and a few other special people.....

and his wonderful country HAITI!!!!!!

Grandparents will be here keeping our kiddos....I hope they survive! (the grandparents that is!!!)

Pray for us and for Vensly as this is a wonderful trip but the leaving is heartbreaking for all of us!
I am praying this is the last trip that we will have to leave him. Praying to come home with good news!

Special Guest Blogger for Marriage Monday!

I am so excited to present Marriage Monday written by my good friend from the popular blog "I Am Especially Fond of You". She and her husband have have an amazing testimony that could have only been possible with a Godly marriage. Please visit her blog to learn about this special family!

Marriage Monday by: Christy Dunnam

How fun is this?!? It’s my first time ever to guest post, and I’m so honored Lesley invited me today. My name is Christy, and my husband, Kelvin, and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary June 22! We were 10 when we got married! Just kidding, of course, but we were VERY young, 18 and 20. My how far we’ve come! I had a crush on Kelvin when I was in sixth grade and remember day dreaming on the bus about how wonderful it would be to be his girlfriend. Little did I know my dreams would come true a few years later when we started dating. I didn’t know I would love him more today than I ever did all those years ago. Somehow I think I will say the same thing 20 years from now.

So, today when I saw on Lesley’s blog she was having a hard time coming up with something, I emailed her with an idea. I suggested we women need to remember to encourage our men. I was reminded of this the other night when Kelvin was kidding around with a friend of ours and was telling me to tell him what a good cook he was (cooking fajitas over the fire pit--YUM-O). I proceeded to pour on the compliments, thick! He was joking, but he still loved it when I went on over him. We women tend to think about complimenting our husbands, as silly, I guess would be the word. The truth is, they thrive on us telling them how much we appreciate them (who doesn't like that?), how manly they are, how good they are at something, even something small. I know I don't compliment and encourage Kelvin enough, so I was glad for the reminder this weekend (even if he was kidding.).

We need to nag less and build up more. In the book, The 5 Love Languages, the author speaks to the fact that a huge majority of men receive love through words of affirmation. So, even if you think it’s silly to tell your husband you appreciate him taking out the trash or picking up his towel, or washing your car, or giving the kids a bath or washing his toothpaste out of the sink, you should tell him anyway. Tell him how haute he is, what an awesome cook he is and how attracted you are to him. Tell him that if you had to do it all over again, you would choose him. Tell him that he makes your day, that you are madly in love with him and that when he plays with the kids it melts your heart. Tell him you love him and think he hung the moon. Slap him on the rear end and holler, “that’s what I’m talkin’ about!” Brag on him in front of the kids and his peers. (And speaking of peers, don’t ever cut him down in front of anyone.) Keep telling him things to build him up. Don’t just think these things; say them OUT LOUD! Put it on your “to do” list. You will begin to notice a difference in him, and you will reap the benefits!

Well, there is probably so much more I could say, but I need to go stroke my man’s ego!

Love is Patient.....(but am I)????

Today I read chapter 5 in Crazy Love by Francis Chan for our small group meeting tonight and while LOTS of things jumped out at me and even made me realize that I only give God my "left overs" this really hit me too!

Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8....it is the scripture that reads....

Love is patient, Love is Kind.....you know the rest right? I think anyone that has been to a wedding probably knows this scripture or has at least heard it. BUT...have to ever REALLY read it....have you ever REALLY listened to what it is saying.

Francis Chan said he was challenged to do an exercise with that verse, the verse that has become all to familiar with people and even grown tired. With that challenge he was to put his name instead of Love! I did the same....WOW!

"Lesley" is patient and kind...."Lesley" does not envy or boast or is not arrogant or rude. "Lesley" does not insist on her own way....is not resentful or irritable....and "Lesley" does not rejoice at wrong doing but she rejoices in the truth.

"Lesley" bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things.

That is powerful....as I am not patient and not always kind. I do envy and I do boast and I can be arrogant and rude.....I love to have my own way!!!! Who doesn't??? I can resent and boy can I be irritable. The list can go on and on.......

I know after reading that scripture today in a whole new way that I am going to try to each day to ask myself if I am being patient and kind and not resenting and the rest of the things listed in that scripture!

If you haven't read Crazy Love....get it!!! It will change your life......I hope that after finishing this whole book with our small group that I am changed inside and out and not being a "lukewarm Christian" giving God my left overs!

I want to live out 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and much more!

I added this picture because I thought of a newborn and that scripture.....we give most of those things to our newborn babies....we need to give them to each other!

Emily Grace TURNED 19 months old!

I just can not believe that you are 19 months old! That is just wild how fast time flies....I could cry just thinking about it. You are something else...LET ME TELL YOU! You look so girly and are a cute as a button but lately you are MEAN! :)
You love to tell us "NO" and "GIMME" and slap! You can slap like a teenage boy! You hold your own with your brothers...that is no doubt!

BUT...you are so cuddly in the mornings and when you are tired.... and you love to give us sugars....especially your Daddy in the mornings. You love your momma but when Daddy is home you are a Daddy's girl for sure!
You are saying all kinds of things.....my favorite is when you yell for "Layla" which is Taylor. You can say "esse" for Jesse but haven't figured out Noah. Most of the time you say Bubba! So cute.
You still take a bottle at least twice a day....sometimes more! You LOVE Toy Story and now the movie Up. You have to have a movie on in the car at all times....doesn't even have to have sound.
I say this every month in my post to you but will continue too.....you are my amazing miracle gift from God and I love you with all my heart!

I think these are my new favorite shoes of yours! If they had them in my size I would have a pair too! You are amazed at them....you could barely walk at first from trying to look at them while you walk! So precious!

I have a feeling you are not going to have a choice but to love BLING! You know your momma....she loves her some blingy stuff! (the again we all know how long I waited and wanted a girl so you probably are going to be a tomboy! That's ok though...you will be however God made you and that will be perfect!)

I do believe you are the most beautiful little girl in the world! I love you so much and thank God every day for you!

Party Planning.....Movie Night!

Jesse will turn 6 in May and wants to have an outdoor movie party! I thought that was a great idea.....so the party planning is in full swing!

First, the most important part....the screen! Marc worked really hard on our outdoor kitchen and seating area. This is where they will watch the movie!

The boys got this popcorn machine for Christmas so we have that part covered. I love these little plastic popcorn holders. I have seen them at Target and the dollar store.

Invitations.....I love these invitations! Between these two I can't wait to see what my brother comes up with. He makes all my invitations and he is SO GOOD!

You all know how I LOVE cupcake toppers!

Look at these cupcakes! MAYBE if I start practicing now I could make these? I love them all!

A Great Day and A New Tradition............

Today our family went to the airport to welcome home the Lambert's and their new little girl Libbie! She is amazing and adorable! Shelly (Libbie and Hoot's mom)has waited for this day for so long! I smile at how God has worked in her adoption story! (more on that later....I have tons of pictures but have to wait for permission to post them first!)

I also met a new blogging friend today at the airport. Do you ever meet someone and just instantly know you could be friends? That is how it was when I met Kim from Three Peanuts! She was there with her precious little girl Kate, who is also from China! More on our meeting later too....

I was reading Kim's blog and read where she buys Kate a James Avery charm for each birthday and that each one has a meaning and I suddenly knew I had to steal her idea! (sorry Kim!) So I went to their site and started looking through their 600 and something charms for one that I thought would mean something to Emily one day. I instantly thought that the cupcake one would be cute since her PARTY was all about candy and cupcakes but then I found the perfect charm for her first birthday!

This is perfect because she is OUR miracle and I want her to always know that with God you can expect miracles in your life! I intend on writing a little note explaining why I picked that charm for her and putting it in a box and then when she is old enough to wear a charm bracelet it will have charms that mean something to her and her Dad and I. Thanks Kim for the idea! :)

Speaking of birthdays....Emily turned 19 months on the 8Th and I totally forgot to blog about it! Stay tuned tomorrow for that.....

Good night!

Surprise! Vensly Pics..... and a Thank You!

First I would like to thank Lyndsie at A Love Worth Waiting For for asking us to share our story with her readers! I hope it leads someone to pursue adoption. You should read Lyndsie's story....her story is my prayer for my children. That is how God designed marriage! What an inspiration to others. Not to mention that her and her husband look like they should be in a magazine or in Hollywood!

I was so happy to come home yesterday evening to find these pictures waiting on me! What a blessing to have so many people go and love on our babies and be able to send us pictures! I was so thrilled and thankful that he is happy! I think its because I pray every single day that God gives him a peace and joy in knowing that he has a family that loves him and is waiting on him to come home!
We are going to visit him again in a couple of weeks and I can't wait!!

I am praying that God moves in a mighty way and that they all come home quickly and I am excited to one day have a huge reunion for all of them. I want them to remain friends forever! I know they will all miss each other after they leave the Creche.

How can someone so small have such a huge appetite? This boy can put away the food! I better start stocking up on cheerios now for our trip!

I love this look he is giving in this picture! That is the look he gives when he wants to do something he's not supposed to. He also would give that look when Marc would chase him around the room and he would hide and peek out with that look!
My mom and I both think blue is his color too....is he precious or what?
